Surf Fishing

From the south end of Kure Beach to the Jetty at Wrightsville Beach, locals enjoy surf fishing for flounder, red drum, black drum, whiting, pampano, blue fish and spanish mackeral.  Carolina Beach's Fort Fisher and Freeman Park offer 4x4 beach access for fishermen and campers.  A popular place to surf fish is at the south end of Wrightsville Beach where the Jetty is located.  The rocky banks of the Jetty is a perfect habitat for fish and other wildlife.  Some people also spear fish this area.
