Holiday Flea Market - Brooklyn Arts Center 2012

Visit the Holiday Flea at “BAC”

Make plans to go to the Holiday Flea at “BAC” hosted at downtown Wilmington’s Brooklyn Arts Center.   You should visit this weekend-long event and check out the many vendors and a wide array of vintage and retro treasures that will be available.  If you still have gifts to buy, vendors come from all over the region so it shouldn’t be hard to find something special for most anyone.

Event times are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 7-9 – 3:00-9:00PM on Friday, 10AM to 5PM on Saturday, and noon to 5PM on Sunday.

If you’ve not been to the Brooklyn Arts Center, this is one of Wilmington’s finest historic downtown structures and a fantastic modern-day venue to host an event.  Built in 1872, St Andrews Presbyterian Church has a rich history.  The Brooklyn Arts Center structure was actually built as the second of the St Andrews Churches and is known as “Second Presbyterian.”  It was such an important component in what is known as the Brooklyn District.

Historian Edward Turburg said it best that “St. Andrews Presbyterian’s integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association mark it as a significant historical, architectural, and cultural icon for the neighborhood, the city, and the region.”

At Brooklyn Arts Center they specialize in producing concerts, weddings, receptions and more.  I have personally seen a few artists perform there and truly enjoyed my experience.  It’s a fun venue and I loved the set up and feel of the place.  The acoustics dance from the rafters literally. If you are interested in Brooklyn Arts Center’s exciting winter line-up CLICK HERE.

The downtown Wilmington vibe is fun and exciting.  There are several real estate options on the market that you may want to consider if you’re thinking of living in the downtown area.  We can help you take a tour or provide you with additional information about any homes that you may find interesting.  CLICK HERE for more information on what’s available in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina.

Military Cutoff Road Extension Project

Military Cutoff Extension Information

In the near future, construction on the new Military Cutoff Extension is going to begin.  The NC Department of Transportation is improving the Highway 17 corridor that will include an extension of Military Cutoff Road at Market Street. This is part of the NC Strategic Highway Corridor Initiative  (click on the link to access maps and additional information on this initiative).

Military Cutoff Road Extension will extend Military Cutoff Road from Market Street to the US 17 Wilmington Bypass.  The US 17 Hampstead Bypass alternative begins in New Hanover County and will extend from the US 17 Wilmington Bypass and go past Sidbury Road in Pender County.

This is a major project, and there are hundreds of properties in this area that are going to be impacted by this highway growth and change.  This past Spring, local television networks and newspapers reported on how the extension was going to directly affect area residents and neighbors, and really encouraged people to do their research.

If you are a current owner or potential buyer of a property in this geographic area and have any questions or may not be aware of how this is going to impact your property, feel free to contact us.  The Coastal Carolina Team is partnering with the well-respected legal team at Shipman & Wright Law Firm that will answer your questions related to this initiative.  Over the next few months, this will is their top priority to ensure every homeowner is fairly represented and that you have been provide with clear knowledge of how this is going to impact your property.

We have access to a map and information on the project so if you are not sure whether this transportation initiative will impact your home or land, please contact us directly at 910-465-9135 and we can help you figure it out.  If necessary,  we can help arrange a personal meeting with a Shipman & Wright legal representative to help provide you with the service you deserve.

To Buy or Not to Buy

Many of our buyers are wondering about the market, the houses, the foreclosures, the loans, the interest rates and so many other things having to do with real estate. The thing is that there are really just so many variables in todays market. There is no right way or wrong way for every buyer. When you decide that it's time to start looking and thinking about buying a house - just know what you want. Know what you want and know what you want to (and can) spend in order to get what you want. Don't feel pressure to move on something that you're not ready for or want.

So, the question: To buy or not to buy - it's really all up to you. And with the help of a good realtor, hopefully you will be able to navigate your way through today's market!

And if you need any advice or help or have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
